Community Guidelines

Telling personal stories can be a deeply vulnerable experience. At Storymoir, we strive to foster an open, respectful, and supportive environment where everyone feels safe sharing their memories and thoughts. Our community guidelines were created with this in mind. Whether you're writing or reading, please follow them so we can all connect through storytelling in a positive and meaningful way.

For Storytellers

1. Share Authentically

  • Only post true personal stories
  • Be honest and respectful in how you portray others, especially in sensitive or emotional stories.

2. Respect Privacy

  • Don't share personal details (e.g., full names, identifying information, photos) of others without permission.
  • If your story includes others, make sure you have their consent or anonymize their identities.

3. Use Content Warnings

  • Mark a story as "Mature" if it contains topics such as sex, trauma, abuse, violence, or loss.

4. Keep it Safe for Everyone

  • Do not post graphic, explicit, or offensive material.
  • Do not post Hate speech, discriminatory content, or promotion of illegal activities.

5. No Promotions or Spam

  • This platform is for sharing memories–not for advertising or self-promotion.

Any memoir or story which do not follow these guidelines may be made private or taken down entirely by our moderators.

For Commenters

1. Avoid Critical, Sarcastic, or Invalidating Remarks

  • Avoid critical, sarcastic, or invalidating remarks.
  • If you disagree with a perspective, engage respectfully or choose not to comment.

2. Stay Relevant and Respectful

  • Keep your comments focused on the story shared.
  • Derailing conversations, trolling, or dominating discussions is not allowed.

3. No Harmful or Triggering Responses

  • Do not question someone's trauma, experience, or identity.
  • Avoid graphic language or descriptions in your replies, especially to sensitive stories.

4. Protect the Space

  • Report any comments that are abusive, inappropriate, or violate community standards.

Comments that do not follow these guidelines will be taken down by our moderators.
